What Is NATS Portal:- National Apprenticeship Training Scheme is one of the flagship programs of Government of India for Skilling Indian Youth in Trade disciplines. The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961 amended in 1973; offers Graduate, Diploma students and Vocational certificate holders; a practical, hands-on On-the-Job-Training (OJT) based skilling opportunities with duration ranging from 6 months to 1 year
What are the Key Features of NATS?
There are several features that set the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme apart as a one-of-a-kind and very innovative apprenticeship training scheme. Let us look at some of the main features now:
1.The scheme provides a period of 1 year to observe the performance of the candidate before making them regular full-time employees.
2. Through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme, the government pays back the employer 50% of the minimum payment that must be made to the apprentices for their services.
3. The training scheme ensures that there is no shortfall of manpower in the organization to accomplish the tasks.
4. The scheme allows establishments to address even future requirements for human resources.
5. Designated trades are offered by the Government and optional trades by private institutions. Under this scheme, both optional and designated trades have been addressed.
What Is NAPS Portal:-NAPS stands for National Apprentice Promotion Scheme. It was instituted in August 2016 by the Government of India. The Government aims to provide financial incentives and technology to support the NAPS scheme and empower apprentices in India.
Apprentices swear by it, the Government is very supportive of it, and employers stand by it. NAPS is immensely popular because of the benefits it offers. NAPS is very beneficial to employers, apprentices, and the country in general. There are three main benefits to NAPS:
- Over time, it will create a network of apprentices who will learn, grow and even empower others. This will create more skilled manpower in India.
- This will also give more confidence to the apprentices undergoing training.
- It will lead to a continuous learning and development environment in companies.
- Startups and other smaller companies can recruit apprentices if they have even one capable and strong mentor in the company, saving money in the process.
